ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Dr. Brian Peck was born in 1948 at the height of the baby boom. It was the same year that Babe Ruth and Orville Wright died, the State of Israel was born, and the United States Air Force was formed from the old Army Air Corps. He entered the University of Connecticut as an early entrant without completing high school and graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1969.
After earning his M. D. from the Medical College of Virginia and becoming board certified in internal medicine, one of the most difficult certifications to obtain, he completed an Arthritis Foundation Fellowship at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. He started his private practice and founded a hospital department in Waterbury, Connecticut, which he chaired for thirteen years.
Dr. Peck served as chairman of the Grant Review Committee and the Medical and Scientific Committee of the Connecticut Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, responsible for the distribution of millions of dollars to arthritis researchers. He has twice received their Outstanding Achievement Award for his contributions to education and research.
Dr. Peck is the medical director of the Arthritis Center of Connecticut, where he supervises and directs the training of medical residents and post-doctoral fellows, students of medicine, radiology technology, physician assisting, and medical assisting. He oversees a busy private practice with three physicians and three physician assistants.
Dr. Peck is an active Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, and he created and chairs the musculo-skeletal section of the physician assistant curriculum at the Quinnipiac College Graduate School, where he is an Adjunct Clinical Professor. Dr. Peck has served as Primary Investigator on numerous clinical research projects over the last twenty years, and is a Primary Clinical Investigator with AmericasDoctors, one of the largest private medical research organizations in the United States.
In Recent years Dr. Peck has added certifications in Pain Management, Forensic Medicine, Disability Evaluation, and Clinical Densitometry for osteoporosis. He is widely published in both medical and aviation periodical literature, and lectures frequently to both professional and lay groups. His lecture venue is national.
Dr. Peck lives in Connecticut with Alison, his wife of over thirty years, who is the director of a pre-school. Their grown children include a son Devin, a daughter Erin, and a son-in-law, Josh.
Dr. and Mrs. Peck are certified rescue divers. Dr. Peck is an instrument rated commercial pilot and a volunteer pilot for Air Lifeline, a non-profit organization serving the medically and financially needy.
